Confidential Care expresses heartfelt appreciation to SoldierStrong for their generous donation of the BraveMind Virtual Reality (VR) technology to our clinic. This state-of-the-art system enhances our ability to deliver comprehensive, evidence=based care to Veterans, particularly in the treatment of PTSD, suicide prevention, and chronic pain management through VR-assisted exposure therapy.
Exposure therapy, a proven behavioral treatment for PTSD, typically involves recalling traumatic events and processing experiencing PTSD them with a therapist. However, Veterans -- especially those experiencing PTSD and co-occurring depression -- often struggle to voluntarily access these memories. BraveMind VR transforms this therapeutic process by providing a structured, immersive environment that facilitates emotional engagement and memory recall, offering a powerful alternative to traditional methods.
BraveMind was developed by the institute for Creative Technologies at the University of Southern California under the direction of Dr. Albert "Skip" Rizzo, PhD., a pioneer in medical virtual reality. This innovation marks a significant advancement in trauma-informed care for our Veteran population.
We also gratefully recognize SoldierStrong's unwavering committment to helping disabled Veterans "take their next steps forward in life." Their collaboration with the Veterans Administration in deploying BraveMind reflects a deep dedication to supporting the recovery and resilience of those who have served.
